What size is a party marquee?

Our marquees are 4m x 8m, which is 32 square metres per bay. Our services page says they suit events from 25 to 200 people and can be joined in U, L, square and rectangle shapes, covering 30m2 to 200m2.

For a party, think of the bay as one room. A single bay is enough for a covered drinks and grazing area. Two bays let you split the party into zones, for example food and seating in one and the bar and dance floor in the other. Three bays suit a larger yard.

• Seating: wine barrels with stools from $4 for stools only, or a cane lounge at $300. For a seated dinner, 6ft round tables at $35 (each seats 8 to 10) and Americana chairs at $6.
• A bar: a bar at $150 gives you one place to pour drinks from. It is furniture, not bar staff.
• Dancing: a 3.6m x 3.6m dance floor from $350, or $440 with party lights and a speaker.

The $700 Backyard Wedding Package is the other popular $700 option. It has 4 wine barrels, 16 stools, a 6-seater lounge, a bar, 40m of festoon lighting and an umbrella, and no marquee.

• Choose the Marquee and Wine Barrel Package if rain or sun is the main worry, or you want the party to have walls and a roof.
• Choose the Backyard Wedding Package if the yard is open, the forecast is fine and you want a lounge, bar and festoon.
• Choose both pieces by adding a marquee ($550) to the backyard package if you want cover as well as the lounge and bar. That comes to $1,250.
